At Lakeside Women’s Hospital, women’s health has always been more than a specialty. It is the foundation of the hospital and the focus of the people caring for patients. As Oklahoma City’s first standalone hospital dedicated exclusively to women, Lakeside has built a culture of care tailored to women throughout their lives. Central to that mission is a nursing team whose experience and commitment have helped shape the hospital for nearly three decades.
Ninety-nine percent of Lakeside’s caregivers are women, and its nursing teams are focused solely on women’s health. Nurses work in labor and delivery, newborn care, surgery and other areas, with many holding certifications in women’s healthcare. That concentrated experience is especially evident in surgery, where the team performs women’s procedures every day rather than rotating among unrelated surgical specialties. Over time, that repetition creates a depth of familiarity and expertise that becomes part of the patient experience.
Many Lakeside nurses have been with the hospital for much of its 29-year history, providing continuity of care for generations of families. Their connection to Lakeside is both personal and professional. Twelve of the hospital’s nurses have delivered their own babies there this year alone, a detail that speaks to the trust they place in the team and environment they help provide for patients.
That same attention to patient experience is evident in Lakeside’s recent renovation of six labor and delivery rooms, designed to provide a more relaxing environment for mothers, partners, and families. From specialized clinical care to familiar faces who have spent years caring for women in Oklahoma City, Lakeside’s nurses remain at the heart of what makes the hospital distinct. Their expertise and loyalty continue to shape an experience centered on women and their families.
