Setting the Table Redux

The upcoming spring and summer seasons inspire serene designs in the popular “Setting the Table” series, relocated to these pages from our sister magazine, Slice.

SPRING

Spring isn’t just reviving the landscape this March. “Setting the Table” has moved to a new location, and just like the flowers, the table is blooming. Sunshine and butter yellow are the inspiration for bringing spring to your table … along with birds, abundant flowers and heirloom china and silver. It’s hard to say who is the star of this show: the floral-embellished birdcage or the serving piece filled with a new hybrid cross of paperwhites and narcissus. Either way, I can hear the birds – and hearts – singing. Pull up a chair and celebrate spring!

SUMMER

When the heat begins to make the summer days long, a perfect way to get started is to fill your surroundings with crisp and cool tones and textures. The table can be such a place, be it breakfast for the early risers or brunch for those with a little more laze to their days. Set the stage with a crisp white ruffled tablecloth as the foundation, light blue plates and soft pink roses to highlight the idea. For a more interesting table add in vases of varying heights, serving pieces and stemware. Finish the setting with cool-toned silverware and matching ruffled napkins tied with a twine bow. Serve up the cold juice, warm croissants and fresh fruit. Then you can sit back and enjoy a nice meal on a beautiful table … no matter how hot it is outside.
