WestFest’s Weekend Lineup

Western Avenue to close for music, food, beer and fun

Oklahoma-based musician and filmmaker Beau Jennings will be joined by his band the Tigers at this weekend’s WestFest. Also headlining the third annual block party is blues and roots band KALO (pictured) with support from Saint Loretto, L.T.Z, Roots of Thought,  Fiawna Forte and The Big News.

Part of Western Avenue will be closed off on Saturday for the free family-friendly event – also filled with food trucks and Fat Tire beer.

Former architect Jennings, who recently won the WoodyFest songwriting contest, says he and his band have been hard at work on their new album.

“The band and I are very excited to return to WestFest to headline this year,” he says. “It’s always great to be part of events that go a long way towards enriching the community.

“Mark it on your calendars. Bring a lawn chair. Wear your earplugs. And get a sitter,” he advises.

As well as the main outdoor stage, an indoor stage at the Will Rogers Theatre will host TWIGGS, Vonna Pearl, Katie Williams, The Indigos, Zunis and Smoochie Wallus.

A kids’ area is available, and a local vendor market with more than 30 businesses is a new attraction at this year’s event.

WestFest, held between NW 41st and NW 43rd, starts at noon; more information can be found here.
