Hip OKC spot 21c Museum Hotel is celebrating its first anniversary with a showcase of all that has helped put it on the map.

The celebration begins with the opening of its latest exhibition, including a special presentation by featured artist Frances Goodman, followed by live music, performance art and culinary creations from Mary Eddy’s Kitchen x Lounge.

The latest display, “OFF-SPRING: New Generations,” is a group exhibition featuring work by artists from around the world on the theme of identity, and the role of rituals in the development of personal and group identity.

Commenting on Goodman’s work within the exhibition, Museum Director and Chief Curator Alice Gray Stites said the display will include the debut of her “monumental” installation “The Dream.” Stites adds, “In the family home, at the wedding altar or in the classroom … these new, old narratives generate a spectrum of meditations on the contemporary construction of self and society.”

Guests can enjoy entertainment from comedian and actor Wil Heuser and performance artist and actress Lauren Argo, custom poem creation by Short Order Poems and a screen-printing demonstration by Oklahoma City Shirt Company.

Specialty ice cubes by Vault Ice and cocktails, along with light bites courtesy of Mary Eddy’s culinary craftsmanship, will also be provided at this free event on Thursday, June 1.

“Art is the heart of the 21c experience. I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate our first year than sharing a new exhibition with the community,” says the hotel’s general manager Matt Cowden. “We have a lot to celebrate, none of which could have happened without the generous amount of support we have received from Oklahoma City’s community. We look forward to celebrating more years to come.”
