Lyric Theatre’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Sweeney Todd has diehard fans of both the dramatic music as well as the sinister storyline. Sweeney himself is a magnetic, serial-killer barber with his own brand of vigilante justice who has a penchant for his signature “close shave.” When he teams up with Mrs. Lovett, the local pie-baker, they create a recipe for success with her new, special meat pies. The spectacular Canterbury Voices will also join the cast to bring Fleet Street straight to Oklahoma City.
40th Annual Red Earth Festival
The 40th annual Red Earth Festival will be held at the Oklahoma City Convention Center, with more than 130 Native and Indigenous artists and makers presenting original painting, jewelry, sculpture, beadwork and more. Each day the festival will feature live dance showcases and other cultural competitions.

Artist Reception with Joy Richardson
Join Oklahoma City-based artist Joy Richardson at the opening of her new exhibition at BancFirst Tower Gallery in Downtown OKC. Richardson is known for her timeless and colorful paintings featuring abstract subject matters. Her exhibition will be on view through Oct. 30.

Storyteller Theatre presents a fresh take on the theatrical classic Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw, adapted and directed by Tre Tyler. This story is set in the South when a tough New Orleans gal gets pulled into high society and must quickly learn the ropes. A timeless comedy filled with charm and social commentary, Pygmalion faces a still-relevant question head on: Are we defined by where we come from or who we choose to become?

Kyle Dillingham has performed internationally in over 40 countries, has won the International Acoustic Music Award twice and will be performing at Live After 5 at OAK OKC on Friday, Aug. 7. This incredible violinist plays a variety of genres, bringing together sounds of country, blues, western swing and bluegrass with unforgettable enthusiasm.

TailSpin: A Scissortail Music Festival
An epic summer music festival hits Scissortail Park with two days of live bands playing on the Love’s Travel Stops Stage. Friday night, the music begins at 6 PM with the headliner being OKC indie rock band Husbands who have recently released their fourth album Cuatro. On Saturday, the party begins at 4:15 PM. Catch the headlining alternative-rock band Letters to Cleo, known for their hit “Here & Now” and having a cameo on the ultimate teen movie 10 Things I Hate About You.
Country music singer Cody Johnson takes the Paycom Center stage for two nights, live in the 405. Singing his signature mix of old-school country-western with current country twang, Johnson will be joined by special guests Clint Black and Chayce Beckham for an unforgettable evening of music.

The world’s best cat video festival returns to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art with six available showtimes. Watch the best internet cat videos as the OKCMOA donates 10% of all ticket sales directly to the Oklahoma Humane Society. Y2K Pop-punk band Simple Plan is continuing their Bigger Than You Think tour at the Zoo Amphitheatre, celebrating their 25th anniversary. Joined by Bowling for Soup and 3OH!3, this stacked lineup will be playing setlists packed with their biggest hits and fan favorites in this ultimate summer party.

Motionless in White: The Sweat and Blood Tour
Metalheads take over the Zoo Amp on Aug. 11 as heavy metal bands Motion in White, Lorna Shore, Fit for a King and Static Dress come together for The Sweat and Blood Tour. It has been three years since Motionless in White toured in the U.S., and this tour kicks off their first performances of new music off of their upcoming album.

The 11-time Tony-winning musical Hamilton will be live at the Civic Center for two full weeks as OKC Broadway returns for its 2026-2027 season. Learn the life story of founding father Alexander Hamilton, and his influence on our country’s democracy and future. Don’t miss the unforgettable music and energetic choreography which have made Hamilton one of the most successful Broadway shows of all time.

Friends of the Library Book Sale 2026
Bibliophiles unite at the Friends of the Library Summer Book Sale, happening in the Oklahoma Expo Building at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds. While the main sale occurs each year in February, the summer sale is a perfect time to get all of your back-to-school shopping done for every book lover in your family. The sale is open 9 to 5 each day and is free and open to the public.

Painted Sky Opera presents Verdi’s La Traviata, live on stage at the Civic Center’s Little Theatre. This masterpiece follows Parisian courtesan Violetta as she gives up her luxurious life to follow her heart with a young nobleman named Alfredo. As society rejects her, she is hoping this true love will cure her fatal illness. La Traviata will be performed with an orchestra in its original Italian with English supertitles.
August 14 – 29
Travel up to Guthrie to the Pollard Theatre and be transported to Tuna, Texas. Greater Tuna is a play by Ed Howard, Joe Sears and Jaston Williams where two actors portray every member of an eccentric, tiny town. This hilarious show is fast-paced and witty, full of costume changes, accents and quirky personalities and packed with humor and heart, highlighting small-town American community life.
August 15
The Alma Mater’s of Oklahoma brings the Alumni Jazz Festival to the Love’s Travel Stops Stage and Great Lawn at Scissortail Park. It is featuring a “Dinner Under the Stars,” with live music throughout the evening. This event benefits Guardian Kare Residential suites, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which provides transitional housing for homeless veterans.
Local singers Nia Moné, Rachel Black, Annisia Anderson and Stephen Salewon will be putting their own spin on all of the classic ’90s R&B songs you know and love. This performance is suitable for all ages and will include both recognizable songs and original music that would have surely been a hit before the new millennium.
The Homeless Alliance is hosting a festive evening of fun with music, food and dancing at the Homecoming Starry Night event. Celebrate the community and help raise funds which are critical in providing support for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. This year, the Gasaway Family Foundation and the Arnall Family Foundation are matching every dollar raised up to $200,000 which will double the impact of this incredible organization.

Comedian John Mulaney is performing his newest stand-up tour, Mister Whatever, at the Zoo Amp on Aug. 20. Mulaney is known for his hilarious, dry sense of humor, quick wit and ability to laugh at himself while engaging the audience with a highly theatrical style of performance. If you have not see John Mulaney live before, you will not want to miss this!

Scissortail Park’s Night Market
One of the most popular events of the summer returns August 21 at Scissortail Park, as it presents its first Night Market of the season. With incredible live entertainment, dozens of local vendors and merchants to shop from and delicious food trucks to serve dinner, there is plenty of fun for the entire family.

The new musical The Outsiders will take the stage Aug. 25-30. Based on the novel by S.E. Hinton and the subsequent movie by Francis Ford Coppola, The Outsiders follows Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny Cade and their family of “outsiders” as they go head-to-head with their rivals, the Socs. This dynamic production features an incredible original score and won four 2024 Tony awards, including one for Best New Musical.

2025 Deaconess Pregnancy & Adoption Gala
Deaconess Pregnancy and Adoption services is hosting its 18th annual gala, celebrating over 125 years of creating families through adoption. There will be a live auction, the popular “Mystery Pull” bags and a panel of birth mothers telling their powerful and inspiring stories.

Every fourth Friday this summer, head downtown to the West Village and Film Row for the ultimate block party. In August, the district is hosting its annual Reggae Fest, with delicious cultural foods and music to groove to throughout the area.

Dueling Divas and Dazzling Duets VIII
OK City Opera is bringing back one of its fan favorites, Dueling Divas and Dazzling Duets, for the eighth year at OK Cider Co. This family-friendly night of fiery opera will have the audience engaged and cheering for who will win this epic sing-off. The singers will be competing for the Diva Crown and your dollars are what decides the winner. OK City Opera is known for bringing all of the drama you could expect from a traditional opera in an unexpected environment. Be sure to arrive early to secure a good seat and a cider (either alcoholic or NA) before the show!
