The foundation donated to the institute to help in its mission to provide training for in-demand jobs to those in need to increase employment opportunities.
The Arvest Foundation gave a $10,000 grant to Goodwill Industries of Central Oklahoma.
Each year, the Arvest Foundation asks Arvest Bank Oklahoma City to advise the foundation of outstanding charities doing meaningful work to improve local communities. This year, the bank chose Goodwill Industries of Central Oklahoma for its ongoing work in providing training for in-demand jobs to those in need, which is meant to lead to greater employment opportunities. The grant will help Goodwill cover certificate fee waivers for the Goodwill Career Pathways Institute.
“It is because of generous donors in our community that Goodwill can provide access to training to those who need it most,” said Amara Lett, Ph.D., Goodwill director of training and employment services. “Our training can often be completed in as little as one day and offer income gains to many of our clients up to six more dollars per hour. When you give to Goodwill, you give an opportunity to serve others through the power of work, access to education and the spirit of hope in our community.”
The Goodwill Career Pathways Institute offers microcredentialing certificate programs, which are accredited through the Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools. The certificate programs cover a wide variety of topics chosen to provide the necessary training and certification required to obtain in-demand jobs within the community. Current programs include:
