A national panel from the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association named Dewayne Gootee as its runner-up for 2023 Delivery Professional Driver of the Year award.
The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association recently named Dolese Bros. Co. concrete delivery professional Dewayne Gootee as a runner-up for its 2023 Ready Mixed Concrete Delivery Professional Driver of the Year Award.
A national panel of industry judges selected Gootee from a near-record number of applicants nationwide.
Gootee has served as a Dolese Concrete Delivery Professional for 17 years. He was named Dolese’s Driver of the Year in 2022 and won Dolese’s Safe Driver Award in 2018 and in 2021. He is an NRMCA Certified Concrete Delivery Professional and was Dolese’s first master level Concrete Delivery Professional due to his outstanding records with safety, positive customer interactions and other notable achievements.
“Dewayne is a phenomenal individual who makes me and others around him better,” said Jordan Hudso, area supervisor for the Moore, Norman and Tuttle batch plants. “His teammates look to him as their leader because he is reliable and consistent in his approach. He leads because it comes naturally to him, not because I or anyone else has asked him to. It’s simply who he is.”
He also has represented the company at numerous Touch-A-Truck events and has trained many new Dolese Concrete Delivery Professionals.
“Dewayne always shows up on the job with a great smile on his face, ready to deliver our concrete in a precise manner,” said Jaime Martinez, RC Stemwall. “We have worked with Mr. Gootee for over a decade, and he has never changed the way he delivers our concrete with a strong work ethic. Most guys get tired of their job throughout the years. Dewayne always shows up with the same smile on his face — a true representation of Dolese.”
The Ready Mixed Concrete Delivery Professional Driver of the Year Award annually acknowledges the significant contribution of ready mixed concrete truck drivers to the growth and success of individual companies and the ready mixed concrete industry. The award recognizes a driver’s career achievement, safety, professionalism, competence and customer service.
“Dewayne has always been courteous and willing to work with our finishers to get any job done,” said Mike Crosby, superintendent at Home Creations. “He makes sure to go the extra mile for his customers, and it shows. During our last pour, everything was covered in mud, but instead of tracking it throughout the entire neighborhood, Dewayne stopped to clean everything off before pulling away from the job site.”
