If you’re craving a ski-slope vacation but can’t find the time, look no further, as Riversport OKC presents its Winter Glow festivities, opening Nov. 26. Without the hassle of travelling out of town, visit your local winter wonderland, as Riversport offers ice skating, curling, rock climbing, skiing and snowboarding, and much more. The new synthetic ice rink is a space to glide around on your skates, but if you’re in the mood for some risky adventure, Winter Glow offers four indoor climbing experiences, with holiday themed decorations to keep your spirits high and your elevation higher.
For the high point of the festivities, the Holiday River Parade at Riversport will be taking place Dec. 4, , as decorated boats are set to float on the Oklahoma River with the return of skiing elves and a firework show. The event honors event originator Mike McAuliffe, who passed away last year. “Mike McAuliffe was an integral part of so many river events, and I think the Holiday River Parade is probably the family favorite,” said Mike Knopp, executive director of Riversport. “We appreciated all that McAuliffe did for the river over the years and look forward to honoring him at the parade.”
With hot chocolate, s’mores, firepits, holiday lights, and Santa showings on Saturdays, Riversport’s Winter Glow serves as a great attraction to visit during a staycation this winter. Entertainment for the whole family is available. “Winter Glow brings together a whole new set of winter adventures that extend our season into the holidays,” said Knopp. “People are going to be excited when they see the cool lighting that takes the climbing and skating to a whole new level.”
