As a parent, filling summer hours can be a challenge, so we’ve compiled some activities for kids who play in different ways based on their senses. Whether you’re looking to help them burn some energy so that you can get 20 uninterrupted minutes in the shower, or make family memories that will last for years to come, it’s a great time to get out and explore.

Taste

Discover Pops on Route 66 for a road trip of a sugar explosion. While your kids can order burgers and take photos in front of the giant soda statue outside, you can try to choose between the hundreds of old sodas available! Gag snacks and drinks are also a part of the fun experience, so get on the road and head towards one of Oklahoma’s most popular restaurants.

Touch

At OKC’s Boathouse District, bring your kids to the Youth Zone, where they can zipline, go on obstacle courses, take on the tallest slides, and even engage in water sports! Enjoy the atmosphere along the water as your child combats the craziest activities.

The Science Museum of Oklahoma is an incredibly interactive experience to help kids gain a better understanding of how the world works through play areas, science experiment shows, and much more. The International Hall of Gymnastics is also located in this building, where kids can practice their tricks and see how their talent matches up to some of the best athletes.

Visit OKC’s Dave and Busters to up your arcade game! It’s guaranteed that your kids will love playing for tickets, with which they can win a multitude of prizes. The fun doesn’t end there — while your kids are playing Whack-A-Mole, you can grab a drink and a snack at Dave and Buster’s Sports Bar. Sit back, relax, and watch the game while your kiddos play theirs!

See

With a rowdy bunch of kiddos interested in the Wild West, head on over to OKC’s National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. This excellent gallery gives your children the opportunity to learn and have a total blast while doing so. There are multiple interactive exhibits as well as an outdoor setting.

Does your family have an eye for nature? Take a look at the Myriad Botanical Gardens, an immersive experience full of plant life and the little creatures that come with it. With a creative spin on regular city parks, your children will have a hard time letting go of the activities in the children’s area.

One of the most popular places to visit is the OKC Zoo, where your entire family has the chance to see all kinds of varying wildlife. With a petting zoo, lorikeet experience, multiple restaurants, and an updated look at Sanctuary Asia, your kids might want to snag an enclosure and never leave. Prepare for a full day of curiosity and enjoyment!
