MLSOK Inc., a subsidiary of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Association of Realtors, donated $28,525 to support Sisu Youth Services, a nonprofit organization which helps ensure people ages 15-24 who are experiencing homelessness have a safe place to sleep, the security to dream and the support to make a positive impact on the world.
“Realtors understand building a strong community means helping people in need connect with resources they need to gain needed stability and rebuild their lives,” said Monty Strickland, president of the MLSOK board of directors. “Sisu does a fantastic job providing young people with shelter, clothing, meals, school supplies and other critical services and support, and we’re glad to help fund their important work.”
Jamie Caves, Sisu’s executive director, thanked the MLSOK board for the generous donation.
“Transition-age youth who are experiencing homelessness require a wide variety of services, from an overnight shelter to job training to mental health services, regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, cultural background, or religious affiliation,” Caves said. “This gift will help us welcome even more people with open arms.”
