Sad news for theater lovers: OKC’s Reduxion Theatre is cancelling the remaining three shows of its season, citing “financial hardship.”
Husband and wife team Erin and Tyler Woods founded the company, which specializes in classical work with a twist, in 2007.
Reduxion Theatre was in the course of its ninth season with a theme of Evolution and new Artistic Director Tonia Sina – performers staged “The Woman in Black” and Jane Austen’s “Christmas Cracker” at the Civic Center earlier this season.
The organization posted it would no longer be staging “The Tempest,” “Scissortail” and “Hello Again.” While Reduxion Theatre’s phones are no longer in service, a Civic Center spokesperson confirmed the remaining three shows are canceled.
“This is a very difficult time for everyone in the arts, and we all need community donors and support to keep our doors open,” reads a post on the Reduxion Facebook page. “Thank you all for your support of Reduxion Theatre and the arts, and please go see and support local theater in Oklahoma City.”
