ESPN’s popular SportsCenter on the Road team will make a stop in Oklahoma City Saturday and Sunday in conjunction with the return of Kevin Durant and his new team, the Golden State Warriors.
Producers for the show scouted locations for a good outdoor venue for the pre-game and post-game shows, and they decided the rooftop at Packard’s New American Kitchen would provide an ideal backdrop for the program.
Packard’s GM Nick Schaefer said the crew would set up a full stage on the rooftop Saturday morning. The restaurant will serve a light breakfast/brunch starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, and space on the rooftop is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Reservations are not available for the rooftop. The program will broadcast live from 8-11 a.m. both days. On Sunday, the stage will be inside the restaurant, and the full brunch menu will be available beginning at 8 a.m.
Oklahoma law prohibits the sale of high-point alcoholic beverages before 10 a.m., but Schaefer said the restaurant will have cold brew coffee on tap and fresh-squeezed orange juice both before and after the bar opens.
Reservations for Sunday are highly recommended, and can be made exclusively on OpenTable.com. The Warriors (with Durant) are slated to play the Thunder Saturday night at 7:30 at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
Packard’s will have the game on in the restaurant and on the rooftop. Schaefer did not have information about which member of the ESPN team would be broadcasting this weekend. Once the ESPN program concludes on Saturday, the rooftop will remain open to take advantage of the expected mid-80s temperatures. Thunder up!
