The plant will produce 150,000 water bottles this month to be distributed to Sam’s Club stores, and it aims to manufacture 2 million bottles in 2023 at its first domestic facility.
Simple Modern, an OKC-based hydration product company, began domestic manufacturing in Oklahoma City at a facility at 4600 SE 59th St. last week, after a grand opening celebration featuring speakers such as Gov. Kevin Stitt, OKC Mayor David Holt and Simple Modern co-founder Mike Beckham.
The company will produce 150,000 hydration products in 30 days to sell in Sam’s Club stores, and the opening marks more than $6 million in investment to prepare the facility for manufacturing Simple Modern’s products. The company aims to produce 2 million units domestically at the facility in 2023.
At the event, Beckham spoke about the company he created that has grown to see revenues reach $100 million in less than a decade to make the company the largest supplier of hydration products to Amazon and Target.
“We started with trying to build a different kind of company,” he said. “We started with the culture and worked out from there. After seven years, I could not be more proud of the results.”
Simple Modern has served more than 25 million customers in those seven years, but Beckham said he projects the company will serve 14 to 15 million customers in 2023 alone.
Representatives from Walmart attended the grand opening, highlighting Simple Modern’s entry into Walmart stores later this year as well.
“I think we have a future Sam Walton right here with us today,” said Gov. Kevin Stitt, remarking on the new partnership.
In addition, Simple Modern will give 1,000 water bottles to Oklahoma City Public Schools to mark the occasion and underline its mission statement to “exist to give generously.”
