The Underground Coffee, which recently completed a renovation and expansion to its Midwest City location, opens Midwest City’s first coworking space at the same location this week, with a ribbon cutting and open house at 4:30 p.m. Feb 17.

“We have dreamed for a few years of adding a coworking space, and this seemed the most natural thing to do when we had the opportunity to expand,” said Underground Coffee owner Jacob Hussain. “Coffee and coworking marry perfectly. The warmth, the comfortable atmosphere and the ‘liquid motivation’ pair with the focus, the meetings and the drive to accomplish great things.”

The coworking space contains four separate meeting rooms in the now-doubly-as-big coffee shop, as well as a row of dedicated, shared coworking spaces. Membership with The UG Coworking includes 24- hour access to shared workspaces – which include workstations, a print station and lounge area – complimentary drip coffee and iced tea and discounts on orders at The UG Coffee.

The Underground first opened in Midwest City in 2005.

“We are a regular meeting spot for business professionals, high school study sessions, weekly small group gatherings, a monthly Coffee with the Mayor event, and more,” Hussain said. “As we’ve grown over the years, we’ve been thrilled to host these meetings and gatherings. We make it our goal to serve well. We are so thankful for the place we have earned in 16 years of serving the best coffee to the most incredible customers in the greatest community. We are excited to continue our journey with this shared coworking space, a place we believe will facilitate discussions, decisions, and new ideas!”
