This year marks the 20th anniversary of the first Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon – a 26.2-mile race to commemorate those lost on April 19, 1995. This year’s marathon will also include a 13.1-mile cycling option for those seeking alternative ways to participate. Unlike previous marathons, this event will be exclusively virtual due to pandemic health concerns.
In order to take part in the virtual relay, participants must register at okcmarathon.com and click “Sign Up.” Next, dress for the occasion using the Commemorative Marathon box sent upon registration. Choose a day and time between Oct. 4-18, pick your marathon starting point, start the clock, and track your time. The OKC Memorial Marathon encourages contestants to choose a meaningful course to remind you why you #RuntoRemember.
Finally, submit your results via okcmarathon.com/time in order to receive a 20 percent discount for the 2021 Memorial Marathon. Are you worried about not getting the swag participants crave? Don’t fret. At okcmarathon.com/store, patrons will find Memorial Marathon merchandise to commemorate this 20th year.
