Tropical Summer Sips in OKC

Caribbean-inspired punch bowls, gourmet Piña Coladas and tiki-inspired cocktails are bringing island escapism to the city.

Is there anything more summery than a tiki cocktail sipped under a hot pink umbrella? Decked out like a tropical island paradise, Flamingo TIKI is a transportive oasis in the Paseo Arts District, where the vibe is so strong that it even plays “Gilligan’s Island” behind the bar. The drink list is vast, including punch bowl-style group cocktails and classic cocktails like Mai Tais, Zombies and Blue Hawaiians. House originals, some of which are frozen, include Emmers of Paradise, with two kinds of rum and notes of amaretto, coconut and tangerine; while the namesake Flamingo combines three different rums with pineapple, coconut, lime orgeat, Falernum, hibiscus and sparkling wine.

While Flamingo TIKI transports guests to Caribbean paradise, Deem Laow whisks you away to the jungles of Chiang Mai. The lush Thai-inspired bar is as much about noodles and spring rolls as it is tropical cocktails. Rum- and pineapple-based Painkillers are served alongside drinks like the Tropical Delight, a quenching medley of watermelon, coconut water and a spiced Thai rum called Mekhong.

Elsewhere, gourmet Piña Coladas are sweeping the city at newcomers like Superfly and Dougla Kitchen, and R&J Lounge & Supper Club features an evergreen assortment of tiki drinks, like Blue Hawaiians, Mai Tais and gin-based Singapore Slings.
